How to Prevent Burn Out

If you’re running your own business it can be easy to feel burnt out. “Burn Out” basically means being overworked and overwhelmed, making you feel fatigued. If you’re feeling burnt out you’re going to become fatigued when it comes to making decisions not just for your business, but in your life. So, let’s tackle this and keep your flame bright and sharp for your future endeavors!

Learn when & how to say no

The first thing you can do is start saying "no" more often. When you’re taking on a project ask yourself if it’s a project you really need or if you’re taking it on because you fear there will be a lack of projects in the future.

Our best decisions should never come from fear. When we act out of fear we run the risk of making bad choices and running yourself ragged.

When you take on a project you’re not passionate about and are already starting to feel burnt out, you’re not going to perform at your best. Putting a burnt out version of yourself on a project could actually hurt your business.

Going on ‘Silent’ Mode

Taking time to rest is extremely important. We can mute social media and e-mails just like we can block someone on our phone. One game changer for me was turning my phone on silent mode. Without the constant notifications and dings, I started checking my phone when I wanted to versus when someone needed me. This already puts you in a better state of mind for dealing with clients.

Make sure you have a healthy relationship with your work by taking care of yourself and setting boundaries so you don’t spread yourself too thin.
